Larry Kevin Marcum - D.V.M.

Dr. Marcum has owned and operated Animal Medical & Surgical Hospital Of Frisco since April 15, 1995. He opened Animal Hospital of Frisco in June of 2000. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1991. Prior to attending veterinary school, he earned his bachelors degree in Agricultural Economics in 1987.  He also earned a degree in Marketing, Business, and Veterinary Science.

His professional affiliates include: The American Veterinary Medical Association and the Dallas County Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Marcum can be found on most weekends enjoying time with his son at the ranch in Oklahoma, where he runs a cow-calf operation. He also enjoys flying, horseback riding, and scuba diving.

Dr. Debbie Schaffer

Deborah Schaffer - D.V.M.

Dr. Schaffer graduated from Texas A&M with a Doctor of  Veterinary Medicine Degree in 1982. She is currently a member of the Texas Veterinary Academy and the American, Texas, and Dallas Veterinary Medical Associations.  Dr. Schaffer has many years of experience with all breeds, but specializes in Great Dane's and Dobie's.

On her days off you can  find Dr. Schaffer out riding her horse.

Elizabeth Thompson - D.V.M.

Dr. Thompson graduated from the University of Missouri with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 2013. Prior to completing veterinary school Dr. Thompson studied animal science at the University of Wisconsin - River Falls. She spent the first three years of her career practicing in Missouri doing a mix of both small and large animal work. Dr. Thompson joined the AMSH team in May 2016. In her spare time you can find her out riding her horse or at the park with her dog. She also has a one eyed rescue kitty named Tinkerbell.

Nancy - Practice Manager

Nancy is a native of Oklahoma and joined the AMSH team in March of 2016. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from East Central University, Ada Ok in 1999, along with an Associate's Degree in Applied Science from Murray State in Tishomingo, Ok in 2000. Nancy has 15 years of management experience ranging from managing her father's Quarter horse ranch in her early days and then moving to management in the dental and health care fields. Being raised on a horse ranch she has been around small animals, livestock, and of course horses her whole life. She continues to be involved in horses, currently owning three, with a two year old barrel prospect in training. She also has two dogs Molly and Mo that are her constant sidekicks. She is the proud mom of two children Brendon (23) and Brittney (19). She enjoys swimming, skiing and grilling out. She can be found most weekends working cattle, mowing, riding horses or attending her daughter's horse events.

Job - Surgical Technician

Dr. Job Gonzales has joined us from Mexico City.  He obtained his veterinary degree from UNAM in 2002.  Job's interests include  general and orthopedic surgery.  He is currently working as a technician while he brushes up on his English and works to validate his credentials in the US.  He is married with three wonderful children whom he enjoys spending his free time with.

Patty - Veterinary Technician

Patty has been working as a technician for over a decade.  She is extremely dedicated to this profession and is our official "cat whisperer".  Patty has a very vast knowledge about all animals but she loves to deal with exotics, reptiles, and generally any creepy crawlies that most people shy away from.  She lives with her husband and an army of critters.  Her cats are, Mingus, Mason and Turtle all of whom terrorize the two dogs Sachel and Sheila and then there is her snake Sundae who watches and laughs at the whole thing from the safety of his terrarium.

Antonio - Veterinary Technician

Dr. Antonio Garza joined the AMSH team in the summer of 2016. He is originally from Monterrey, Mexico. He obtained his veterinary degree from CEU in 2013. He is currently working as a technician while learning English and plans to validate his credentials in the US.  He enjoys spending time with his animals at his ranch in Mexico where he raises and sells sheep.  In his free time Antonio enjoys playing football and is a big fan of the Denver Broncos.

Erin - Veterinary Technician

Erin started at AMSH in July 2016.  Erin attended Cedar Valley College, where she completed their Veterinary Technology program in 2012.  She has over 6 years experience as a veterinary technician. Erin is currently working on taking her state and national boards to become a licensed technician. Erin hopes to one day work at a Zoo. Erin has a Great Pyrenees mix named Samson, a yellow lab named Nala, and a leopard gecko named Luna.

Autumn - Veterinary Technician

Autumn joined the AMSH team in September of 2016.  She is originally from Hungary and moved to the States with husband in the summer of 2015.  Autumn began studying veterinary medicine in Hungary, and hopes to finish her veterinary studies in Texas after improving her English. Autumn grew up around farm animals in Hungary. She currently had three pets which include a two year old Daschound Mix, Lizzy and her two cats Graffiti and Sydonia.

Alex - Veterinary Technician

Alex joined the team at AMSH in spring 2016. Alex currently plans to attend Collin College starting this fall. She hopes to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Alex has a Shih Tzu "Cocoa" who she has had for 11 years!

Maegan - Veterinary Technician

Maegan has been a part of the AMSH family since 2012. She went through the vet assistant program in high school and graduated with a CVA. She has been working as a veterinary technician ever since. Prior to starting her career at AMSH, Maegan worked in emergency medicine. Meagan is currently attending Tarleton State where she is pursuing her teaching degree. Meagan aspires to teach high school agriculture. In her spare time she enjoys competing in hunter/jumper events with her horses Simon and Rush and spending time with her lab Hershel.

Cynthia - Veterinary Technician

Cynthia started in our internship program fall 2016 and later joined our AMSH staff here in January. She plans to attend Texas A&M in the fall where she hopes to gain her degree in Biomedicine. Cynthia has an 11 year old Yorkie-Mix named Oscar, a pink Betta fish named Prometheus. She moved here from Montreal, Canada where she learned her third language, which include English, Spanish and French.

Taylor S. - Tech Assistant

Taylor has been with AMSH for since 2012. She is currently attending Oklahoma State University where she is pursuing a degree in Animal Science. She has three dogs, one Labrador "Gunner" and two Pugs "Whiskey" and "Kahlua". Taylor will be working with us during the summers and holiday breaks from school.

Addison - Tech Assistant

Addison joined the AMSH staff in 2015 after interning with the clinic for a year. She is currently attending Oklahoma State University pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science, with a minor in Spanish. Addison hopes to attend veterinary school once she finishes her studies at OSU. She has experience with small animals as well as cattle and horses. Addison has one labradoodle named Nala and enjoys riding horses and being outdoors. Addison will be working during the summers and holiday breaks from school.

Vanessa joined the AMSH team in 2013. She is currently attending Texas A & M where she is pursuing a degree in Biomedical Science. Taylor N. - Tech Assistant

Taylor joined our AMSH team in June 2016. She has been around animals her whole life. Taylor is attending Tarleton State University and studies agriculture education. In her free time Taylor enjoys spending time with her puppy Ruger. Taylor will be helping around the clinic during the summers and holiday breaks.

Janet - Receptionist

Janet joined the AMSH team in November 2016.  Janet has always had a love for children and animals. Janet has worked in early child care for 13 years, and prior to joining the AMSH team she went back to school to earn her CVA.  She has worked as a receptionist for two years now. Janet has two grandchildren Landon and Madison. She also has two dogs "Oliver" a Malti-poo and "Cupcake" a Chihuahua. In her free time you can find Janet camping or going for walks with her dogs.

Dana - Receptionist

Dana joined the AMSH team in December 2016. She has 25 yrs experience in the animal care field and enjoys spending her free time volunteering with animal rescue. She has 4 dogs and 1 cat of her own and is the proud mother of 1 son who is a firefighter/paramedic.

Michelle - Receptionist

Michelle joined the AMSH team in the winter of 2016. Michelle is from Lubbock Texas. She studied Business Administration at South Plains College. Michelle works with multiple pit bull rescues in DFW. In her free time she loves outdoor activities. Michelle has worked as a training advisor in restaurants for 12 years. She is married to Jon and expecting a little boy in May. Michelle has recently made a career change to work with /around animals.

Sherre - Receptionist

Sherre joined the AMSH team in 2017. Sherre has an Accounting degree and over five years experience working in accounting and tax preparation. Sherre recently graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Biology and hopes to continue a career in Veterinary Medicine. In her spare time Sherre volunteers with a local animal rescue that helps find homes for cats. Sherre lives with her husband and two cats, Tigger and Roo.

Shea - Receptionist

Shea joined the AMSH team in November 2016. She has a 4 year old son. Shea took 4 years of small and large animal science through high school as well as equine science. Shea showed lambs for 3 years of high school and was in FFA for all 4 years. She also has five dogs "Paisley", "Tank", "Sadie", "Roscoe", "Whiskey", along with many cows and horses. In her free time Shea likes camping, hunting, hiking, horseback riding or being out at the ranch working cattle.

Rachel joined The AMSH team in March 2016. She is currently attending Collin County College to pursue a degree in Education. She has three furry friends at home. A Shiba Inu, Kadee, a cat named Nala , and recently adopted a bunny named Bentley.
When Rachael is not at work she enjoys playing with her pets and hanging out with friends.

Jorge - Kennel Manager

Jorge has been working for our hospital since June 2001.  He is responsible for our meticulous kennels.  Jorge is known to our staff as the "dog whisperer".  His special bond with the animals is what makes him so unique.

Terri - Groomer

Terri is in charge of making sure all of your pets look their best.  She has been grooming pets since 1985 and working as a groomer for veterinarians since 1986.  Terri  has two sons who are grown and have families of their own. In her spare time Terri loves to cook and go to the movies.  Her family also includes 5 dogs and 2 cats.

Martin joined our team because of his love for animals which he has worked and trained for the better half of his life. Martin is bilingual and can help in translation for any of our Spanish speaking clients.   In Martin's spare time he enjoys boxing, soccer,  and going out with friends.
